Edge Effects on Vegetation Structure and Resource Use Pattern at Two Community Forests of Surkhet, Nepal

This study assessed the forest structure and regeneration at edge core parts of two community forests, Ram Janaki Furkesalli Surkhet district, Western Nepal, resources use pattern. Different blocks designated by user groups were considered to designate strata for stratified random sampling. For vegetation analysis tree 15 circular plots (n = 60) 10m radii; shrubs 5m radius subplot herbs three 1 m radii subplots within 10 considered. Semi-structured questionnaire approach was employed collection ethnobotanical data. Based on importance value index dominant Ageratum haustoniaum in Heteropogon contortus part; shrub Phoenix acaulis both forests (RCF FCF); Shorea robusta RCF FCF whereas Lagerstroemia parviflora coreforest. The species diversity recorded higher forests. are rich medicinal plants with 26 under 25 genera 23 families which root mostly used as ethnomedicine gastrointestinal disorder. Besides medicines, firewood, fodder, fruits, vegetable, timber bedding material other uses resources.
